1999
A young camp counselor named Chris Arnold arrived back home to Liverpool after an incredible summer at camp in America. With help and guidance from Dave Robinson, the close friend who had first told him about summer camp, Camp Leaders was born.
2008
Life-changing experiences weren’t limited to America, so Smaller Earth launched as our cultural exchange umbrella, taking international travel programs to new territories, all connected by one theme: to positively impact. Smaller Earth Group formed alongside it as the head office behind the brands, with strategy, support and centralised services, and new ventures such as Cleversteam, the technology company behind a now market-leading cultural CRM.
2014
Resort Leaders brought the same approach to resorts, providing staffing solutions to resorts looking for enthusiastic international staff.
2018
Smaller Earth partnered with NYQUEST, the market leader of international summer camp staffing in Canada, to create a joint venture: Camp Canada.
2020
After two years of pandemic, Smaller Earth Group rebuilt its brands from the ground up, with a focus on innovation and customer experience.
2023
Camp Collab brought the camp industry together for three days of expert-led sessions, talks and workshops, and American Camp Co launched as a direct placement agency, powered by the teams at Smaller Earth and cenet.
2024
Smaller Earth became an Employee Ownership Trust, entrusting the company to the people who’ve shaped it rather than seeking external investment. The same year, Campfront launched: a modern camp management platform.
